Neck Lift
Necklift surgery has become a very popular option in my practice. Many patient’s necks age at a much faster rate than their faces. Many patients have congenital deposition of fatty tissues which hide the attractive outline of the jaw and chin. For the right patient, this is a terrific and highly-rewarding procedure.
This beautiful 28 year old professional is depicted 5 months after her neck lift procedure. She did not want a change to her appearance, but she felt that her genetic predisposition was going to involve significant laxity of her neck. She wanted to seek as much refinement of her jawline now in order to offset future aging changes.

This patient was a perfect candidate for liposuction. She has a nice jawline and elastic skin. Liposuction can only target superficial skin making many patients less ideal candidates.

Because each patient is unique, this operation needs to be tailored to fit each person’s needs. For some people, neck lift scars are confined to the skin crease just underneath the chin. If large amounts of skin need to be removed, additional scars behind the ear will be used. Nearly all people with sagging/loose skin along their jaw line, will choose to perform a facelift in addition to the necklift. rejuvenation patients. This requires a small scar hidden in the crease below the chin. You should expect scars from a facelift to be entirely hidden and or inconspicuous. The quality of the scar is improved by avoiding removal of too much tissue and by using a precise, gentle technique.

For some people, neck fat is just below the skin. This fat can sometimes be suctioned to create a sleek, “lifted” appearance through very small incisions with minimal recovery time. In most cases, I prefer the control of direct visualization for a more meticulous result. With an incision, the tissues underneath the thin platysma muscle can also been seen and adjusted as needed for best results.

Neck lift surgery is done under general anesthesia. You will go home with a compression garment. Typically you may remove the compression and return to light activity after 3 days. Pain is minimal. Bruises will typically fade after two weeks. If liposuction is used, you may have temporary facial bruising and temporary nerve numbness or asymmetry. Results improve as swelling goes down, and the tissues continue to soften over the course of 1-3 months.
