Labiaplasty Discharge

AFTER CARE INSTRUCTIONS: LABIAPLASTY

Suggested supplies to have:Vaseline, Hydrogen Peroxide, wet wipes, maxi pads, panty liners, and ice packs.

Plan to lay down and rest as much as possible for the remainder of the day.

You may experience bleeding after the numbing medication wears off, an hour or so after your procedure. If you do, apply firm pressure on the wound for a minimum of five minutes, then clean the area as needed. Expect bleeding for a few days following your procedure.

If it feels good, you may use an ice compress for swelling and comfort during the first few hours after surgery. Keep something between your skin and the ice to protect the healing tissue.

Ibuprofen 400-600 mg orTylenol 750 mg every six hours both work well for pain. You will go home with a prescription for pain medicine, after the first couple of days you shouldn’t need much of the narcotic.

Avoid strenuous activity for at least 3 days to limit bruising and complications related to bruising. After 3 days you may resume exercise as tolerated. Listen to your body!

Avoid pressure from things such as bike seats, motorcycles, etc. for at least 4 weeks.

Reframe from intercourse for 2-4 weeks.

No soaking in tubs for 4 weeks, but showers are fine!

Vaseline can help ease the irritation related to the stitches, which will fall out on their own, usually by 2 weeks. You may have a stitch pop within the first few days from swelling. This will heal on its own.

Schedule your follow up appointments for 2 weeks and 3 months.

Remember!! Any lumps and bumps will smooth over time.
